I’m Kyle Gontjes, a research faculty member in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at the University of Michigan Medical School.

My research integrates clinical metadata and whole-genome sequencing to investigate the evolution and transmission of multidrug-resistant organisms in complex populations, including those in long-term acute care hospitals, nursing homes, and household settings.

I am a Research Investigator in the Snitkin Lab, where we focus on microbial genomics, molecular epidemiology, and the evolution of antibiotic resistance and other genome-influenced traits.
